Regency Travel Trunk - John Woodman of Exeter
Item Specifics
A Regency iron-bound, leather covered traveling trunk or portmanteau. Built by John Woodman of Exeter in Devon - Circa 1815. Wood constructed frame, covered in black leather hide. Brass stud fixings with the initials AR on the domed lid. Lock, but no key. The original paper lining is in amazing condition - with makers label. It was the practice of the time to line the interior of trunks with decorated pages from books. Very old and extinct minor worm holes. One split leather handle and one hole in the leather. Totally unrestored. A real antique, and could be valuable once fully restored.
