Oil Painting of a 19C Whaling Scene

A wonderfully framed small oil on canvas painting depicting a whaling scene. A wide ebonised and gilt frame - ready to hang. The canvas reverse is printed with a makers name, which is unreadable. The painting is signed P.T.L and is difficult to age with any certainty. We would suggest it dates from the early to mid 20C - but based on an early 19C painting. Regardless, this is a stunning painting in a delightful frame. Amazing for interior decoration on a wall in your seaside beach retreat.
