A pair of mid-nineteenth century steamship salinometer testing pots. Manufactured from brass with repoussé or hammered design. Teak and copper handles to prevent heat transfer. These pots were used to collect very hot water from a ships boiler so it could be tested for salt with a hydrometer. This beautiful pair are very decorative, and have lots of modern uses in the home or commercial setting.
